bullet  Noted events in his life were:

General History, 1771. John was killed by either Native Americans or by animals while out on a hunt with Daniel Boone after he left their campsite. His body was found several years later in a tree and allegedly taken to Fort Boonesboro and formerly laid to rest. Currently, there is a fundraiser to purchase a permanent marker near where his body was found, near Red Castle. Also an epitaph may be erected if more solid information exists about where he was actually buried. If you would like to donate, please contact Sam or Carolyn Compton at the Boone Society via www.boonesociety.org. Thank you
