Pioneer Resident Edna Gunn Dies

Mrs. Edna Gunn, 84, died Wednesday at St. Rose Hospital where she had been a patient since May 4. She lived at 1215 Morphy. She came to Kansas in 1874 with her parents, Mr and Mrs. John McDowell who homesteaded northeast of Ellinwood. She moved to Great Bend in 1888 and attended Central Normal College, taught at several rural schools and was married to Frank L. Gunn in 1892. The couple lived south of the city.

Mr. Gunn died in 1917. Mrs. Gunn was a member of the first group to join the Presbyterian church in 1888 after its organization when the congregation met in the courthouse.

Surviving are 2 daughters, Mrs. Walter Mayers of Great Bend, and Mrs. David Robinson of Whittier, CA. 3 sons; Lawrence of Kenneit, MO; Arthur and R.E. of Great Bend. A sister, Mrs. Lee Livezey of Ellsworth. A son Guy was killed in a 1935 accident.

Burial will be in Great Bend Cemetery.
