William Warner Anderson aged 69, a highly esteemed resident of this place passed away yesterday at his home, corner 7th Street and Ridge Avenue following seven months illness. Mr. Anderson was shot in the leg by a prisoner while serving as constable in 1918, and never recovered from these injuries.
He was born in Mercer the son of Mathias and Rachel Anderson. He had lived in Sharpsville for 45 years and was one of the town's best known citizens. Mr. Anderson had served as councilman, constable and tax collector. He was a member of Adoniram Lodge 737 I.O.O.F and attended M.E. Church. Surviving are his widow Margaret Pauly Anderson and the following children. Mrs. A R. Totten of Youngstown; Mrs Frank Stewart, Miss Estella Anderson and Malcolm Anderson of this place; two brothers, M.M. Anderson of Greenville and P.C. Anderson of Mercer; four sisters Mrs. N. J. Rickart of Greenville, Mrs. William Steingrabe of Mercer, Mrs William Smith of Fredonia and Miss Frances Anderson of Mercer.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. from the home. The I.O.O.F. Lodge will be in charge. Rev. R. Lynn Pardee of the M .E. Church will officiate and will be assisted by Rev. Harry Wood of the Presbyterian Church. Burial will be made in Riverside Cemetery.
William married Margaret Jane Pauly, daughter of Frank B. Pauly and Catharine Helen Ault, about 1889. (Margaret Jane Pauly was born on 27 Mar 1870 in Transfer, Pymatuning Township, Mercer County, Pennsylvaina and died in 1971.)
