Harriet A. Leverton, 91, Wausau, died Friday, July 2, 2004, at Community Health Care Wausau Hospital under the care of Comfort Care and Hospice Services.

Harriet enjoyed being a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Orville "Buck" Leverton, Wausau; two daughters, Maxine Leverton, Wausau, and Diane (Bill) Merce, Weston; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; and a sister, Margueritte Craig, Milwaukee.

Services will be at noon Wednesday at Helke Funeral Home, Wausau. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Wausau. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.

Harriet A. Leverton, age 91, of Wausau left her earthly home July 2, 2004, at Community Health Care Wausau Hospital under the care of Comfort Care and Hospice Services.

Harriet was born April 13, 1913, in Sioux Falls, S.D., to the late Albert and Grace (Lovett) Hipschman. She moved to Milwaukee when she was 10 years old. Harriet met her husband, Orville, at a dance where he played in the band. They were married Jan. 23, 1933, in Marshfield. They had been married for more than 71 years. As a young wife, she was a very good waitress and she loved staying home with her family. She enjoyed bowling, playing cards with her old neighbors, playing bingo with her new friends at Island Place, crocheting, knitting, dancing and being a member of the Hilltoppers through Wesley United Methodist Church. Harriet was a faithful and devoted member of Wesley United Methodist Church for more than 50 years.

Harriet is survived by her husband, Orville "Buck," and daughter, Maxine Leverton, both of Wausau; daughter, Diane (Bill) Merce, Weston; three grandchildren, Kelly (Bill) Schremp, Rothschild, Kristie (Rich) Riechenberger, Cumberland, and Kim (Jason) Van Galder, Aniwa; seven great-grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; sister, Margueritte Craig, Milwaukee; and brother-in-law, Cecil (MaryAnn) Leverton, Wisconsin Rapids. Harriet is preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.

Funeral services will be at noon Wednesday, July 7, 2004, at Helke Funeral Home, Wausau. The Rev. Sam Royappa will be officiating. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Wausau. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Burton Smith for the 50 years of care and kindness he gave to Harriet. Also thanks to Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
