• Obituary, Nov 1942, La Salle, La Salle County, Illinois. Mrs. Emma R. Gunn, widow of Moses Gunn, one of La Salle's oldest residents, died at 2:30 a.m. Sunday in St. Marry's hospital, where she had been a patient since Nov. 10. Had Mrs. Gunn lived until Dec 3 she would have been 87 years of age.
A native of Farmington, Mrs. Gunn was a daughte of David and Mary Althaus Richards. Her father was a pioneer Bureau county farmer and came to Illinois in a covered wagon. She taught school for several years in Bureau and Henry counties before becoming the bride of Mr. Gunn, May 14, 1889, and had been a resident of Ls Salle since that time.
Mr. Gunn passed away Oct. 18. 1935.
Mrs Gunn resided at 126 Gunn ave. in a home which had been occupied by the family for the last 39 years.
Surviving are three children, Miss Frances Gunn, Lloyd Gunn and Carroll Gunn; a half-sister, Mrs Lavina Brown, Fairbury, Nebr., and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Bell Williams, Peru. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by a son, Wilmer, who died at the ate of three.
The funeral will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday from the Peters funeral chapel, Peru, where services of the Church of Christ, Scientist, will be conducated, with Mrs. William Morgan as reader. The Rev. Robert Cook, pastor of the La Salle Baptist church, will be in charge of rites at Oakwood Cemetery.
Emma married Moses Winters Gunn, son of Aaron Gunn and Nancy M. Winters, on 14 May 1889 in La Salle, La Salle County, Illinois.
