Obituary: Orangeville Courier, 28 Apr 1900, Stephenson County, Illinios. Monday, when nature's sun was nearing his zenith, Mrs. Catherine Lausch sank peacefully and sweetly to sleep in death. Mrs. Catherine Lausch was born in Lancaster, Co., PA Sept. 9, 1821, and died at her home near Orangeville, April 23, 1900, age 78 years, 7 months and 14 days. She was the daughter of Jonathan Harding and the oldest of a family of seen children, three boys and four girls. She lived with her parents in Pennsylvania until the age of 27 years she became the wife of Mr. Lausch. Her early married life was also spent in PA, where three of her four children were born, Amos the youngest being born in this state. In 1655, Mr. Lausch having decided to come west, the deceased became a resident of this county. Because of failing health Mr. Lausch soon became a car and burden rather than a protector and provider. B ut with a stout heart and an undaunted heroic courage she willingly and cheerfully assumed the burden of caring for a sick husband and rearing her boys, four in number. With nothing but her deft hands, stout heart and a resolute will to do it, aided however by all her burdens and sorrow by Him who "maketh all things work together for good to them who love Him," much of the little home where she died is in its present tillable condition because of her energy and industry, for by then the forest was cut down and the soil made to yield the reward that always awaits the sturdy and faithful toiler in all walks of life. By a rigid economy and painstaking industry she accomplishes what would have crushed a weaker heart and a less determined energy. Her faith and religion were a part of her life--seemingly her meat and bread. Baptized in infancy she later she later assumed for herselfthose vows and became a member of the Lutheran church.
