Passes Away Last Night at Age of 85, Last of Family of Eleven
Miss Kate G. Stahl, a resident of Freeport for many years, passed away last night about midnight at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. I. J. Kiplinger, 22 North Harlem avenue, with whom she had made her home for the past 33 years. She was the last of a family of eleven children and is survived by nieces and nephews in this city and elsewhere to mourn her loss.
Kate Gertrude Stahl was the daughter of John and Catherine Stahl and was born on September 1st, 1837, at Chaddams Run, Lycoming county, Pennsylvania. In 1858, she came wast with her family, locating at Brookville, Ill. Later, they removed to Lena, where Miss Stahl resided until coming to Freeport and making her home with Mr. and Mrs. Kiplinger.
She was a member of the Amity Lutheran church of Lena for many years, and her death will be mourned by many friends both in Freeport and Lena.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 o'clock on Sunday afternoon at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Kiplinger, Rev. D. L. McNary, of the First Presbyterian church, officiating. I. J. Kiplinger has charge of the arrangements and the following will serve as pallbearers: John Hinderk, J. R. Jackson, George Smith, W. J. Smith, S. E. Raines and E. P. Riner. The remains will be taken to Lening following the services and burial will be made in the Lena cemetery.
