• Obituary, 2001, Yakima County, Washington. GRANDVIEW - Valda "Jean" Adams, 65, of Yakima, formerly of Grandview, died at home after a courageous battle with cancer on Sunday, June 24, 2001 with her family present at her side.
Jean was born July 3, 1935 in Inavale, Nebraska to Harry P. and Alice M. (Tietjen) Graham. In the early 1950's, the family moved to Yakima.
In 1956, Jean met her life long friend and companion, Curtis Adams. On July 29, 1956, Curtis and Jean were married at Colville, WA. For the next 15 years, Jean lived in Florida, England, Germany and Idaho before moving to Grandview in 1971. Curtis and Jean bought a small farm. Jean worked as an apple packer for Snokist and attended night school. After school, she joined O.N.B. where she worked as a secretary and loan officer until retiring in 1994 from U.S. Bank.
Upon retirement, they sold their farm and traveled to Arizona and much of the U.S. seeing friends and family until her illness prevented traveling.
Jean especially enjoyed doing her crafts which have managed to spread over much of the U.S. and are known as "Jean's Crafts!" She enjoyed spending time on Rimrock Lake, camping and fishing with friends and family. She was a unique and loving person and will be missed by all those who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her husband, Curtis Adams of Yakima, her children and their spouses: Lugene and Ed Borba of Crows Landing, CA., Terry and Roy Greenfeather of Warsaw, MO, Bruce and Cathy Brown of Sunnyside, WA; 19 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters and their spouses: Delmar and Phyllis Graham of Grandview, WA, Donna and Ron Kroger of Sunnyside, WA, Marcella and Milan Ruble of Liberal, Missouri, Vernon and Linda Graham of Grandview, WA and Glenda and Bob Schei of Moses Lake, WA.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Alice Graham.
Viewing will be on Wednesday, June 27, 2001 fom 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Langevin-Mussetter Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be on Thursday, June 28, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. at West Hills Memorial Park. Those planning to attend should meet at the cemetery.
